Jane Foster Sewing and Clothing Design Retreats

Barbara created a wonderful tailored jacket. The top stitching is very precise and perfect.

Betty purchased a packet of coordinating hand dyed fabrics and is turning them into a wonderful jacket. Jane suggested she do some stitching on some of the pieces to tie it all together.

Robin completed this tee shirt.

And here is the matching tee shirt for her granddaughter. Notice the ruffling on the hem. Jane showed her how to do this by slightly stretching the knit fabric as she serged it.

Jasna first made a muslin for this faux chenille jacket. Then she created the fabric with layers of different colored silk dupioni, and ran stitching lines at a 45 degree angle. She then cut between the stitching lines to reveal the underlying fabric.

Jane is now doing the final fitting on the shoulders and armholes.

Jasna's jacket is now finished. She wore this in the PenWAG fashion show. Here is a photo of her on the catwalk.

Barbara purchased this fabric at Back Porch Fabrics when she was on a sewing retreat Jane the prior year. She is making a quilt for her daugher to take to college. She and Jane returned to Back Porch on this trip to pick out the border, and after auditioning quite a few fabrics, they found just the right one. It was fun to watch the process of choosing the fabric, as Jane told Barb when she had the right fabric, "it would speak to her". And it did.

Jane has challenged students to make a garment using a Marfy pattern. So Barbara is all set with this new skirt featuring side pleats falling from a curve to the hemline.

Maria made a table runner, and she and Jane had fun figuring out the construction details.

Sharon's new slacks and tee shirt. The tee shirt is made using the Christine Jonson #714 V Neck tee shirt pattern. Jane demonstrated an easy way to do the hem. She had Sharon fold up the hem and press in a thin fusible double sided tape from LJDesigns. The tape is called Design Plus Ultra-Soft Double-sided Fusible Tape. The tape was pressed in place, and then sewn in place with a twin needle. A very quick and easy finish.

Kathleen also used the Christine Jonson V Neck tee shirt pattern, and loves the fit.

Barbara made these fantastic stars. We are waiting to see how she is going to use them.
